What Is Mameru?

Mameru is the gift the maternal family — the mosal, led by the mama (maternal uncle) — brings for the bride or groom before the wedding. Clothes and jewellery are a big part of it, and many families also include vasan (utensils): pieces that go to the new home and are kept for years.

Mameru Budgets

• Simple: a brass thali, a pair of copper glasses and a steel dinner set.
• Traditional: a brass pooja thali set, a kansa thali, a copper water jug and a brass barni.
• Heirloom: a kansa or brass dinner set, a brass pooja set and a copper matka pot — pieces passed down in the family.

How to Shop for Mameru

• Check the kariyavar list first. The bride's parents usually set up the kitchen, so mameru often focuses on brass, kansa, copper and pooja pieces that are not repeated. See the Kariyavar list with prices.
• Bring your list to the showroom. Choose each item by size and design — we will help you balance the budget across the list.
• Engrave the names. The bride's or groom's name, or "Mosal" with the family name, engraved in-house at ₹5–10 per piece.
• Ask for packing. Gift boxes and packing for display at the mameru ceremony.
