Wedding Season 2026–27: Dates and Utensil Shopping Checklist

When Does the Wedding Season Start?

Hindu weddings pause during Chaturmas and begin again on Dev Uthi Ekadashi (Prabodhini Ekadashi), Friday 20 November 2026, with Tulsi Vivah the next day. Panchangs list wedding muhurats from late November — commonly including 21, 24, 25 and 26 November — and through the first half of December.

Weddings then pause during kharmas, from about mid-December 2026 to Makar Sankranti in mid-January 2027, and start again from mid-January into February.

Muhurat lists differ between panchangs and regions — always confirm your exact date with your family priest.

Late November – mid December 2026First run of wedding dates
Mid December 2026 – mid January 2027Kharmas — no weddings

This is a general guide — confirm your exact muhurat with your family priest or panchang. For a week-by-week plan, see our Wedding Season Shopping Checklist.

Shopping Checklist: Week by Week

6–8 weeks before the wedding

3–4 weeks before

  • Fix the guest count and order return gifts — bulk rates from 25 pieces.
  • Send the names and design for engraving (done in-house at ₹5–10 per piece).
  • Plan prabhavana or lahani items for related functions.

1–2 weeks before

  • Collect engraved items and check every piece against the list.
  • Gift-pack the kariyavar and mameru items for display.
  • Guests: pick a gift for the couple.

Why Shop Early This Season

  • Many weddings fall in a few weeks. Late November and early December are the busiest weeks, so engraving and bulk orders take longer.
  • Better choice of sizes and designs before the rush.
  • January–February weddings: use the kharmas break to shop calmly.

One Showroom for the Whole List

Most families in Ahmedabad shop from their own list rather than buying a fixed set. At our Odhav GIDC showroom you can finish the whole list in one visit — daily-use stainless steel, brass, kansa and copper, and branded appliances from Prestige, Pigeon, Hawkins, Sujata and Milton. Bring your list or WhatsApp it to us first.
