Manek Chowk & Mandvi ni Pol Bartan Market — Our Roots
Sambhavnath Steel began in Mandvi ni Pol, in the heart of Manek Chowk's old bartan market. Today our full store of brass, copper, kansa and steel utensils is at Odhav GIDC, Ahmedabad.
માણેક ચોક — માંડવીની પોળથી શરૂ થયેલી અમારી વાસણની દુકાન, હવે ઓઢવ GIDC માં.
Where It All Began
Manek Chowk has been the centre of Ahmedabad's old walled city for centuries — a jewellery and bullion market by day, and the city's famous food market by night. Just inside it is Mandvi ni Pol, home to the old city's traditional vasan (utensil) market.
Our business started there in the early 1990s, selling brass, copper, kansa and steel utensils to families from across the old city — for daily use, weddings, festivals and kariyavar.
Mandvi ni Pol still has a utensil market today. As our business grew, though, the narrow lanes had limits — so in 1995 we moved to Odhav GIDC, where we serve homes, hotels, caterers and companies from a much bigger store.
